The agenda setting theory is in full swing, the deep-state rules this country for last seven decades and they’re never in mode to let the democratic forces gain their due power and rule the country. The two terms of the democratic government have got completed this year and the election is due on the 25th of July 2018 as the masses of Pakistan would be electing its third government. This happens in a time when the two democratic tenures were completed so much in shackles. Even now the democratic voices are barred, the media pressurized, the nexus of army and judiciary is in alliance to defeat every democratic step in the country.
The history of Pakistan is full of the dictating eras, the martial laws, and the leg pulling of leaders, the maligning of democracy, the political leadership and respect of vote in the past. Even the first martial General Ayub Khan used to malign the sister of country’s creator Fatima Jinnah as per the then TIME magazine excerpts as if she was on the payroll of the Indians, the arch rivals of Pakistani deep-state and the Americans who’re considered the super power and the Jews led nation anti-to Pakistan since the country is a “Muslim nation”—and sometimes called the castle of Muslim world for its nuclear weapons and the strategic location as well as the ideology that is shaping Pakistan as the only Sunni majority state following a bit of Sharia law and a bit of secular-liberal ideologies crisps mixture that has never let this country to become either of the two lane. I mean neither fully conservative nor fully liberal or secular.
Whenever time comes the leaders become Sharia followers, the Islamic law that is very strict in nature and not letting any International Universal Charter to be respected at home. Same is the situation of the so called liberals and seculars who have always tried to blend their progressive ideologies with the ideology of the country that makes Pakistan a religious one.
To be honest the religious sentiments are backing to the days of Muhammad Bin Qasim, as per the writers of Pakistan’s history, who was actually an Arab invader who plundered the then Sindh and killed its peaceful leader and son of the soil Raja Daher, but this story is shaped the other way as if Raja was against Islam and people of Sindh so the Muslim did right to invade the soil.
In short every sign of peace, progress, diversity, religious and sectarian freedom is defined in a very conservative and extremist way which denies everything and every opinion except the religious hard-line Sunni theorem of Sharia law that is unable to protect even its fellow sects of Islam for the last seven decades let alone other religions.
And here the basic ideology is sometimes explained by the confused liberal secular that the Jinnah who is country’s founder was very secular, he smoke cigar, had love of the beautiful dog breeds [forbidden in Islam] and enjoyed hard drinks. But that is again a complex of ideas if one goes through the speeches of Jinnah who is himself made confused by the hatred he led in the form of division of Indian sub-continent on the basis of religions the Hindus and the Muslims. If he was that secular or liberal then why would he lead a religion based division? If not then we can say that Jinnah was loving the liberties of western culture and societies for himself but he was in love to rule a country no matter if that is having a model of the late 13th century Islam or a complex of his liberal side with the hard-line religious extremism. This is again along debate to prove what actually Jinnah wanted and what is created in the form of Pakistan.
But his created country could not bear his own sister to go through the electioneering and being elected as a leader through adult-franchise let alone somebody else. So, the deep-state, the then military establishment and the ruling elites, the executives, the judiciary and the confused and lusty leadership who were trying to grab power made a conglomerate that lives till the day and has shaped Pakistan’s history.
This deep-state has ruled the country for last seven decades without any accountability, any hardship, and any opposition very smoothly. Whoever has come in their way they have either hanged him, killed him or at least deported him until he/she ask an excuse for coming back. The democratic leadership of the country who were believing in the Muslim Hindu unity in the sub-continent were blamed the anti-Pakistan figures in the beginning and those who used to be on the payroll of the British East India company and then the British empire were given the feathered caps to rule the country forever.
The deep-state have used every available medium to exploit the energies of the people in their interest. From curricula to media, from the so called civil societies to some of political parties and creation of leadership, issues, militancy, terrorism, and extremism each and every strategy they’ve planned has worked for them.
The psychological cognition of the masses even of the well aware lot have been hijacked that way. As the theory of spiral of silence is applied to those who’re critical of the deep-state and everyone would try to brainstorm his chart and divide the society in too many classes sometimes they use the upper, the middle and the lower class. On the other hand these very opinion leaders, the respected teachers, the cricketers, the NGO workers would unleash their venomous frustration on the political parties who’re believing in democracy, social justice, equity.
This is never their fault, of course not as they’re the victims of the deep-state strategies that is engineering their mind and then letting it think not independently but in the light of either Jang Akhbar, Pakistan Studies, “Aay watan kay sajilay jawanoo”, the dramas, the televisions and radio stations all are what make our cognition.
The deep-state is a point that disturb everything but none of the victims see it a curse, though, they consider it again and again a messiah. They will argue that none of the government has done anything to the people of Pakistan, they have just polluted what has been existing since the creation of the country in 1947.
One of the political figure and veteran student of the practice of politics in Pakistan is of the view that the country’s premier agencies and its army are creating political figures, then they themselves corrupting them that would work in the future that none of them would be capable to raise a finger on the wrongs of the deep-state.
Another is of the view let alone army the executives are made pawns whenever a government come into being this civilian bureaucracy is unchained to jam the political process of governance. Though there exist laws and the constitution of the country that is assigning every single individual, institution and parliament its due framework and way to keep on its business. But every other general who always sit in the leading seat of the deep-state vehicle are considering the constitution of the country a “piece of paper”, the parliament is referred to as a house of the elites who are already blackmailed or prone to be so anytime. The foreign policy that is a subject of the parliament is considered to be the subject of deep-state only because they are the people who should select their friends and foes around the country. Because they’re the ones who got defeat and lost half of the country in the form of Dhaka’s fall and Bangladesh formation in 1970s, glorified the 1965 lost war with India as if they had won, interfered in Afghanistan and rest of the neighboring countries through their created proxies, terrorist groups and hardliner militant leaders from across the world stayed here. It’s obvious from the world top terrorist organization Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden caught in the garrison town of Abbottabad, Mullah Omer the Afghan Taliban chief died in a Karachi based hospital, Ehsanullah Ehsan the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan spokesperson is kept as royal guest till the date.
The Afghan so called jihad made the deep-state of Pakistan more muscular for the petro-dollar support of the country to boost the cold war against the U.S.S.R in Afghanistan, create the volunteer force as Mujaheddin who have now turned terrorists and have caused a shock for the peace of world, region and the country itself.
Keeping terrorism part of the foreign policy or keeping foreign policy in the light of terrorism is not so hidden the former army generals, the world intelligence reports, the rulers of the country have now confirmed it on prestigious forums of debates.
Nobody from the elected house was even permitted to discuss the Pakistan’s hidden role in the promotion of terrorism and exploitation of the proxy organizations. No matter how much democratic system gets its root in the country, behind the wall it is always controlled by the deep-state.
Now the country has come to a complete isolation, the trade and business with the world is going to historical fall, those who were considered friendly nations of Pakistan e.g China, the Arab nations are now seeing the role of the country so much fishy. The Americans on the other side of the Durand Line have always raised their fingers on Afghan Taliban and other terrorist stationed and raised by the Pakistani authorities.
In such a scenario we go ready for elections, as reports of the International Organizations, experts, political figures, the chances of pure, fair and transparent election is very grim. The three times elected premier of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is put behind the bar for being a victim of the salary he did not get from his son where he was shown as an employee in the documents visibly for the foreign visa purpose. And the property which is not having any connection to him but are mere seems to be his ownership. Those political parties who are possibly a threat to the deep-state and cause of democratic Pakistan are considered a curse and not let to lead the country in the forthcoming election. Because the hard-line terrorists and extremist organizations are already on ground for votes under the flags of independent or mere registered parties who are having no popularity more than their symbols on pieces of papers.
We are obvious that no nation can go progressing without respecting the universal charter of human rights, the basic of that is democracy and the people will. Which are seemingly having very grim and dark future in the country as per the above mentioned realities and the muscular deep-state not letting the parliament and constitution of the country to let people become owner of a country based on democracy, social justice and equity.
So, let’s see what happens on 25th July.
